I had the privilege to call Egypt (Locally and regionally called Misr) my home for 3 years. 2018-2021. It is absolutely my favorite country on the planet (so far) and it is the place I know the most about. My love for this country started in my childhood home. My parents had a lot of Egyptian artifacts in our house and we visited Egypt for the first time as a family in 1996.
When I went back for the first time as an adult in 2018, I cried when my hand touched the pyramid. I never thought I would be back. I was able to recreate the same pictures I took when I was a little girl. That was pretty dope!
During this trip in March of 2018, I actually had an interview for a school in Cairo. While on vacation there I accepted the position and moved there in August of 2018. While I was in Egypt I was blessed enough to have so many family and friends come visit me and I got to show them all of my favorite places. I made friendships that will last a lifetime and in general, just had a lot of fun learning about the rich history and culture of Egyptian people.
Although I never wanted to say goodbye to Egypt I left in August of 2021 and moved to Mauritania.
