The Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre
For those of you that live in Kuwait, you know this is the type of country that needs a lot of digging to find something you might be interested in. Most things are not as easily found on the surface like in bigger cities such as NYC or Bangkok. It’s all about who you know and the things heard from word of mouth. Luckily for you, I’m telling you about The Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre.
This museum is nothing short of amazing. I legitimately had a great time spending the day at this centre. It is for sure something people of all ages can enjoy as they had a wide range of displays and activities.
This is a new museum that opened in March of 2018. You can tell A LOT of thought, consideration, time and MONEY went into the production of this centre. After visiting museums all over the world, I can attest that this has probably been Top 10 for me.

MUSEUMS
The entire complex is broken down into 6 buildings and a theatre.

ECOSYSTEMS
This exhibit was one of my favorites. I am glad we started here as it kicked off the museum experience with a bang. When you first walk in you are brought into a South East Asian Rainforest.
After the rainforest, a moving walkway whisks you away to an underwater oasis. Adults and Children alike will enjoy everything there is to see and touch down there.
OUR EARTH
This exhibit focuses on two things. The first thing being Dinosaurs!
The second part focuses on Geography and Geology. I like that the discussion is never too far off of Kuwait. One of the topics is how industries in Kuwait affect climate change around the world.

Science and Technology Museum
TRANSPORTATION AND ROBOTS
For anyone who can appreciate travel, this is a great exhibit for you. From cars to boats to airplanes, this museum will show you different modes of transportation through time.
Upstairs you will find really cool interactive robotics.
HUMAN BODY AND MIND
This exhibit is probably the most hands-on exhibit I have ever been to.
We ran and jumped and played and it showed you how certain activities and food affect your body.
-
Arabic Islamic Science and Fine Art Museum
In this gallery, you will find what contributions Muslims and Arabs have brought to science.
It also offers the architectural designs of many Islamic structures.
-
Space
Within this exhibit, there are many interactive things to do. People are able to try out some of the tests actual astronauts go through.
Unfortunately, we reached this exhibit late in the day so we didn’t notice the giant space shape parked out back.
HOW MUCH TIME DO YOU NEED
We spent 4 hours in this place and I am certain if they weren’t about to close we could have stayed at least another hour. Due to the time crunch, we did not get to check out the theatre. I would suggest budgeting at least 5-6 hours if you plan to interact with all the exhibits. We visited during Ramadan which is why the museum was so empty. I am not sure if it is usually busy during other times of the year but that could cause it to take longer.
I would recommend this museum to anybody finding themselves within Kuwait. It is more than worth the price.

I must say that the idea of visiting Kuwait has me intrigued lately and it’s nice to learn about a few more of its attractions. This culture centre reminds me of some museums back home, sounds like a great day. #theWeeklyPostcard
You got me really interested in Kuwait. I’d love to visit it someday, but it’s probably not going to be any soon. Is it safe there? #TheWeeklyPostcard
To be honest I have never felt safer than when we lived there. Thanks for stopping by 😊
Very interesting. I’ve didn’t know there was anything to do in Kuwait for tourists but it looks like you’ve located something fantastic. Too bad you didn’t have longer to look around, guess you’ll need to go back.
It probably isn’t actually intended for tourists but more for the locals but it is nice to have something to do.
Unfortunately, no. We no longer live in Kuwait. I’m just playing catch up. Lol
Wow this place is impressive, so neat you got to visit so soon after it opened. Too bad you only had 4 hours to try to see all of it. At least since you live there you can go back? Thanks for sharing on #TheWeeklyPostcard

This was such an interesting post! Normally most of the people don’t consider Kuwait as a travel destination but after reading this I feel like visiting there and exploring more about its culture and history. Thank you for sharing
Kuwait is for sure not a tourist destination. Which would contribute to the reasons why it’s sometimes hard to find things to do.
I love Kuwait and I will make sure I pay a visit to this Cultural Centre soon.
Kuwait was our home for the last year. Holds a special place in our heart too
When will you be back in Kuwait?
Probably no time soon.
Dinosaurs!! My fav! Looks awesome
It was really one of the best I’ve ever seen
