The Eiffel Tower is visible from just about everywhere in Downtown Paris. Which is a great thing if you are trying to get some creative shots with this amazing nod to architecture and patriotism. Obviously, I couldn’t help myself and just had to get my picture taken any time there was a clear shot. I’ve done you a favor and compiled a list and created a map of places you can go to get your picture taken as well. De Rien!
Hotel Grenelle
- Address: 140-142 Boulevard de Grenelle, 75015 Paris, France
- This is the view from our bedroom in the hotel we stayed at in Paris. For the price we paid on Booking.com, I would say not bad waking up to this every morning. While a view of the Eiffel Tower is not guaranteed with every single room it is comforting that it does come with most. When you request the room ask for a room on a high floor. If you want to stay in this specific hotel you can follow this link.

Rue Nélaton
- Address: 22 Rue Nélaton, 75015 Paris, France
- We started out the day just walking around with no real intention of capturing these pictures but the tower was everywhere so why not. It is possible to capture this shot from many blocks around the tower since it’s so tall. I like this place specifically because not only is the street not busy but you can capture the Eiffel Tower and some of the buildings which really encompasses a Parisian feeling. Lighting was not on our side early in the morning so you might want to attempt this one at a later time unless you are super good with editing your photos.
Pont de Grenelle
- Address: 65 Rue Gaston de Caillavet, 75015 Paris, France
- We set out with the intentions to go to the State Of Liberty. As you are descending the steps to go under the bridge you can capture this shot on the left-hand side. I really like this shot as it is a unique location most people haven’t thought of visiting since it is kind of far from the tower.
Pont de Bir-Hakeim
- Address: 2 Quai de Grenelle, 75015 Paris, France
- We continued to wander down a walking path and happened upon this location. This is probably one of the best, unhindered shots you can get of the Eiffel Tower. It’s such a good shot that there were two weddings and an engagement shoot happening at the time we were there. Bonus you won’t have to worry about other tourists being all up in your shot.
Steps of the Palais de Chaillot
https://www.instagram.com/p/Ba53SOUlaVo/?utm_source=ig_embed
- Address: 1 Place du Trocadéro et du 11 Novembre, 75016 Paris, France
- This is probably the most photographed shot on Instagram. No lie people are always posting pictures on these steps. If you get there early enough the lighting will be great AND you won’t have to fight with other tourists to capture your shots. Unfortunately, for us, we got there around noon and people were all up in our shots forcing unnatural cropping and the sun wasn’t exactly beaming, so the lighting wasn’t great.
Palais de Chaillot
- Address: 1 Place du Trocadéro et du 11 Novembre, 75016 Paris, France
- Although the steps of this place are probably the most photographed shot of the Eiffel Tower I prefer this one. If you walk all the way up the steps you are able to catch the tower from a really good angle. I especially like this one because it makes for great forced perspective shots. This is one of the stops on the Big Bus Tour. If you purchase the Paris City Pass this bus comes included. We stopped walking at this point and hopped on the bus.
Under The Eiffel Tower
- Underneath the tower proved to provide the worst shots imaginable. LOL Without additional camera tools it is difficult to capture the entire tower unless the person taking the photos is willing to get down on the floor. We got the main shot from off of the Big Bus, hence the headphones. We returned at night and attempted to get photos with the tower and that didn’t turn out so well either.
Bassins du Champ de Mars
- Address: Place Jacques Rueff, 75007 Paris, France
- I have seen a lot of people capture really cute photos here on the grass. Grab a picnic basket and a loaf of bread and hang out. Unfortunately, for us, they closed the area off so no playing around on the grass. In the winter this view is really nice due to the trees being covered in snow.
L’Arc de Triomphe de l’Etoile
- Address: Place Charles de Gaulle, 75008 Paris, France
- This shot was completely unexpected. After climbing ALL 284 steps to get to the top of the Arc de Triomphe we can see what all the hype is about. This angle provides some cool views of the city and the Eiffel Tower. From this point, you can view the intricate layout of the city. If you are into panoramic shots this is a good point at which to capture all the major buildings.
Bateaux Parisiens
- Address: Port de la Bourdonnais, 75007 Paris, France
- We rode the Big Bus back to this stop. The Paris City Pass included a cruise on the River Seine. Although, it was freezing we sat on the top of the boat so we could really take in the scenery. We got lucky enough to get on right as it was about to be sunset. These are some of the pictures we captured during the ride.
Vedettes de Paris
- Address: 2 Port de Suffren, 75007 Paris, France
- After we got off the boat we decided to grab a bite to eat. This area is right underneath the tower and has a really romantic feel. It also had the cheapest food we found in the city. It almost looks as though the tower were just painted in the background.
Carousel of the Eiffel Tower
- Address: Prom. Quai Branly, 75007 Paris, France
- After we finished our food, we walked right up the stairs and went for a ride on the carousel. Although a bit childish we had a good time. You may be able to capture a shot of you on the carousel with the tower in the back.
Tour Maine Montparnasse
- Address: 33 Avenue du Maine, 75015 Paris, France
- This location is not walkable from the others. You will need to either take a train or a cab. I kind of wish we had visited this place in the daytime so we could have a proper view of the city from this height. While this isn’t the tallest building in the city it is pretty close to the top. We captured this shot through one of those tower viewers.
Here are all the locations laid out on this easy map for you

Oooh I love this! I only wish I had known of these spots when I was in Paris. I remember I saw a blip of the Eiffel Towel from the steps at Sacre Coeur, although tiny.. still magical. Especially at night when it lights up.
Night was for sure my favorite too. Truly a magical sight
You certainly found the best places! I certainly like the one from the Palais de Chaillot! Thanks for linking up with #TheWeeklyPostcard!

Great post, map details & all!!!!! Perfect for my next trip back… we did the typical “1st trip experience” & took pictures waaay to close to the tower, couldn’t see the real beauty of it. So this is perfect! Sometimes you have to step back to enjoy the whole picture! Xo
Thanks so much for your support. I hope the next time you go back you capture some better shots
